Around the same time, the Honey Girls lineup received major redesigns to correlate with the film.

Synopsis[]

Three young musicians participate in a talent competition to discover the next great solo artist, hosted by a global pop-star. The competitors quickly discover that they are better as a team and form a secret band, which becomes a huge hit.

Plot[]

World-famous pop star Fancy G releases the music video for her hit song “Diamonds”. She and her crew eventually announce a competition for girls across the United States to compete in to become the next hit singer. Several girls from different states audition by singing and performing Fancy G’s song “Louder”, among them 15-year-old Alex from Houston, Texas, 14-year-old Charlie from Brooklyn, New York, and 15-year-old Maya from Atlanta, Georgia.

The girls chosen for the competition meet Fancy G, her assistant Jenny, and her manager Mac at her home in California where they introduce themselves to her. They eventually go to Laurel Canyon Inn, where they will be staying at during the competition until they are eliminated.

This film has also garnered massive controversy from fans of the original Honey Girls Build-A-Bear line and even people who were just familiar with the line itself. It had been critiqued for being live-action, as well as having the only appearances of the Honey Girls be in vintage masks, deeming the Honey Girls to be "in name only" in the film. Some have even brought up how even younger fans of the Honey Girls would notice these changes and not like the movie as a result.
